Tom Olsen is an Alberta alt-country musician who has been active in the province’s music scene for many years, building a reputation for strong songwriting, energetic live shows, and a deep appreciation for the roots of country and rock music.

Tom  formed The Wreckage in 2014 and more recently launched Tom Olsen and the Hired Hands, an adaptable live band built to deliver the right show for the room. Whether it’s a listening venue, a festival stage, or a packed bar, the band tailors each performance to match the audience and the moment.

Their setlists include songs from artists such as Creedence Clearwater Revival, Dwight Yoakam, Johnny Cash, The White Stripes, Steve Earle, Waylon Jennings, The Mavericks, Willie Nelson, Alan Jackson, Sturgill Simpson, The Rolling Stones, Noah Kahan, and Brooks & Dunn.

The result is a high-energy mix of alt-country, classic country, Americana, and rock that keeps dance floors full and audiences engaged.

Tom has played many of Alberta’s top music venues, including The Ironwood Stage & Grill, Mikey’s Juke Joint, The Blues Can, Cook County Saloon, The Almanac, Newcastle Pub, The Black Dog Freehouse, The Blue Chair Café, Powderhorn Saloon, and The Palomino Smokehouse, as well as the Southern Alberta Music Festival. Along the way he has shared bills with celebrated artists including Ian Tyson and The Northern Pikes.

Tom released his debut album Subtle as a Hurricane, followed by Love and Misery. Songs from both records have received airplay on CKUA and CBC Radio, showcasing his storytelling style and alt-country sound. He is currently preparing to return to the studio to record new material.
